Dr. Carmona received his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona in 1982 with a grade of ‘outstanding’ and earned the title of Doctor of Medicine in Surgery from the same university in 1991 with his paper ‘Counterpart vascularized transplant of tubes and ovaries, obtaining ‘Cum Laude’. He is an expert in high risk obstetrics, laparoscopic surgery and urinary incontinence and the pelvic floor.

A full member of 12 medical societies, he has participated as an expert in several consensus meetings, convened by the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya and different meetings of working groups of the Spanish Society of Perinatal Medicine. He was a member of the European Concerted Action on Maternal Mortality & Severe Morbidity (1996-1998). Other merits include the following: Advisory Technology Agency of Medical Assessment and the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the guest reviewer European Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Biology and membership of the Editorial Board journal of Clinical Medicine (Barcelona).
