Mastopexy is the elevation of the nipple-areola complex and the fixation of the breast tissue in the new position in order to obtain a esthetically correct breast.
Surgery
The technique involves incisions that are made only around the nipple-areola complex, if the patient’s breasts are too small, followed by a downwards vertical incision. The excess of skin is removed and the nipple is placed in position. In case that an increase of the breast’s volume is wanted, prosthesis would be placed under the breast tissue or under the subpectoral muscle. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and requires ingress of the patient into the hospital for 24 hours.
Postoperative
The patient should carry out a relative rest for between 4-10 and take analgesic medication and anti-inflammatory.
