Cranial Procedures
Spine Procedures
Our extensive training in neurosurgery has provided with wide expertise in different fields of our specialty.
Even though we have focused on spinal procedures in recent years, cranial surgeries are still frequently performed at Barcelona Spine Center.
Tumors
We perform basic tumor surgery concerning convexity meningiomas or brain gliomas.
But we are highly specialized in tumors that arise at the base of the skull. These surgeries are challenging because often these tumors surround nerves and important vessels of the brain.
Another challenging surgery and field of our expertise is that of posterior fossa and the cerebellopontine angle tumors. We have extensive experience in tumors that arise in these areas.
Microsurgery for intraventricular tumors or for tumors of the Insula is another of our fields of cranial expertise.
Vascular Surgery
We feel comfortable performing aneurysm and arteriovenous malformations surgery
having performed over 100 of these complex vascular operations
Endoscopy
Intraventricular brain endoscopy is performed for hydrocephalus or intraventricular tumors. Endoscopy may safe the patient from a definitive implantation of ventricleperitoneal shunt device.
Pituitary gland surgery
Pituitary gland tumors may lead to serious endocrinological diseases which may not be controlled only with medication.
We have experience in over 200 tumors of this location.
We are currently performing this surgery with the endoscope which allows for better 360 degrees visualization within the sella.
Trauma
Reconstructive surgery for cranial bone defects after severe head trauma or even surgery in cases of severe head trauma such as cranial decompression.
