Minimally invasive lumbar fusion with the Trans1-AxiaLIF® rod

Back pain due to degenerative disc disease DDD of the L5-S1 disc space, is best treated with the Trans1 rod. The procedure involves a small incision close to the coccyx (tailbone) where special instruments are used to remove the centre of the disc. Once removed, bone graft is used to fill the space and the rod is implanted restoring lost disc height and stability.

Performed under general anaesthesia.
Patients are discharged on the same day or day 1, post surgery
Follow up consultation(s) with surgeon required
