The Spanish National Transplant Organisation (NTO) is considered to be one of the best in the world, thanks to the efforts and professional merit of world leading specialists and the generosity of the people.  Sadly despite such efforts, the number of people on transplant waiting lists continues to exceed the number of organs available.  A lack in deceased donor organs has encouraged doctors to develop alternative transplant procedures and programmes which effectively increase donations.
