Otoplasty is a surgery performed to resolve deformities of the ear. Otoplasty procedures are not intended to improve the patient\'s hearing, but have beneficial aesthetic and self-esteem effects for the patient.
The procedure can be performed on children from the age of 7 years, at which point the development of the ear is complete.
Otoplasty is a relatively simple operation. In the days immediately following the procedure, the patient can expect to experience some mild discomfort due to inflammation and bandages – which must remain in place day and night for several days - though this quickly fades.
The patient can usually return to normal activities within a week.
