Facet injections and radiofrequency

In cases where back pain is caused by facet joint degeneration, facet joint injections which precisely target the affected joint(s) can be given.  A combination of local anesthetic and corticosteroid anti-inflammatory medication is injected in order to relieve pain and inflammation of the joint(s)

Radiofrequency neurotomy is a procedure which involves the deadening of small sensory nerves which supply the inflamed joint.  A radiofrequency probe is used to deaden the small nerves reducing pain and offering prolonged relief.

Performed under local anaesthesia with light intravenous sedation.  

Patients are discharged on the same day.
