Lumbar endoscopic discectomy (LED) is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove herniated disc material. The surgery is performed through a posterolateral approach using an endoscopic probe and hydrodiscectomy equipment to remove the herniated part of the disc and relieving pressure on the nerve root. Due to the very small incision, minimal tissue and muscular damage occurs allowing the patient a faster and less painful recovery.
Performed under local anaesthesia and light intravenous sedation
Patients are discharged on the same day. Follow up consultation(s) with surgeon required
